Captain Carson Gray is an American fighter pilot forced to bail out over Germany during the waning days of WWII. Lieutenant Kenneth “Mort” Morton is an American psychopath sent behind enemy lines on a clandestine mission to assassinate a senior British defector. Private Axel Printz is a young German American unwillingly conscripted into the Luftwaffe who is struggling to survive the Nazi regime which seems bent on his destruction. Their lives ultimately intersect in the barbarity of war. As their ordeals are about to end with Germany’s surrender their association climaxes in a tragic finish, a selfish victory, and nearly unbearable trauma.
