  • P-47 Thunderbolt

    The Republic P-47 Thunderbolt is a World War II-era fighter aircraft produced by the American company Republic Aviation from 1941 through 1945. It was a successful high-altitude fighter, and it also served as the foremost American fighter-bomber in the ground-attack role. Its primary armament was eight .50-caliber machine guns, and it could carry 5-inch rockets or a bomb load of 2,500 lb (1,100 kg). When fully loaded, the P-47 weighed up to 8 tons, making it one of the heaviest fighters of the war.

  • 80th Anniversary

    Coming up: The barracks of the prisoner of war camp Stalag VII A in Moosburg, in cooperation with: Stalag Moosburg e.V., Association for the Promotion of Intercultural Encounter have announce a retrospective to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Stala VIIA.

    Stalag VII A was one of the largest prisoners of war camp in the Second World War in the German Reich. Three barracks of the guards and a prisoner barrack have been preserved and have been listed since 2013, they are currently in a state of disrepair and are threatened (partially) by demolition plans.

    The barracks not only show an abundance of original equipment from the Nazi era, they also document the subsequent use as a Civilian internal American occupier, as accommodation of displaced and from Turkish guest workers.

    From 25.04.-11.05.2025 there will be an exhibition “Forgotten and over?” – 80 years of liberation of StaLag VIIA Moosburg on the history and importance of the camp.

    A visit to the exhibition and a tour over the site of the former prisoner of war is planned for the on-site visit.
